It is around 9am. The Florida sunshine outside is promising a beautiful day. Here in the nursery, amidst the mermaids, we're experiencing "Hurricane Abby". Our catalyst - Dad blew a raspberry. All in giggles and good fun, every thing is captured. Even that crocodile tear Abigail is working so hard for. As mom scoops her up, things calm, well until dad attempts another raspberry war.
This new family of 3 is very special to me. Dad, Ernie, is my husband Doug's cousin. I have been waiting patiently for an opportunity away from work on the weekend so that I could finally meet their new baby girl, Abigail. As Doug and I sat and chatted with Ernie and Nina, I found myself reminiscing in their stories. Four months new to the parent journey, they feel those early struggles some of us tend to forget. The sleepless nights, the schedule or inability to keep a schedule, and STUFF! Babies are so small, but their things are everywhere.
Those first few months are so fleeting. Everything is new. Everyone is adjusting. Babies grow and change so quickly, we don't realize as parents, we are growing and changing too. For most, we don't think about the things we do everyday as beautiful. When planning for a portrait session, we are choosing a special outfit, picking a location, etc. But, your everyday - the in between not often seen - it is BEAUTIFUL.
I enjoyed the visit with family, it is always wonderful to spend time with Ernie and Nina. Abigail is beyond precious. I'm glad they let me be a fly on the wall for the day, to not only capture the portraits they were ready for, but to let me snag a piece of their day just being new parents with a new baby... crocodile tear and all.
